News Flash - 6-21-2025

Posted by SIG7IvanPoopy - 5 hours ago

I don't remember when the last News Flash was, and I don't know how much has happened since then, but I managed to "brick" and unbrick my PC within the span of a week, and then on a laptop and then the PC I got Windows 8.1 installed, and then on the PC I accidentally installed Windows 11 onto a different partition so I have macOS Sierra, Windows 8.1 (themed to look like Windows 7,) and Windows 11!

Not sure what to say here other than it took a while, but it was all worth it. I can finally use the latest apps, and somehow Windows runs and launches stuff smoothly! Like, aside from some BSODs I had to fix (8.1 had a ton more on my PC, even with fixed drivers there's something about kernel stuff that made me want to just update) and then Windows 11 having the same initial BSOD when everything was set up (there was more during some setups) and then having to reconfigure users, it works great!

I've contemplated theming Windows 11 to look like Windows 7, but considering that I've hardly used 11, I thought it would be fun just to get used to it. I think the version I have (which was a requirement removed ISO) might be closer to Win 10 in some aspects, such as the taskbar's time font and notification icon as well as one menu I think under settings, but otherwise it's Windows 11 at its best.

Also not sure if I've stated it, but I did complete school, so I have a whole lot of time to myself. :)
